Here are a few helpful hints for your Microsoft Dynamics CRM:
1. As most are already aware, it is faster and easier to populate a date field by manually typing in the date instead clicking on the calendar button. What most people don't know, is that you only need to type in the month and day and CRM will auto-populate the year* once you tab to the next field. *CRM will fill in the current year if the month/day has not yet passed. It will fill in the next year if the month/day has already passed for the current year.
2. It's not uncommon for customers to want to be able to search on more fields (attributes) than those set by default. For example, when searching CRM Online for a contact, you may want to search by company name rather than just the person's name. It's pretty easy to add any field you would like to the search parameters.
Navigate to the entity of choice, 'Contacts' in this case. Select the 'Quick Find View'. Then use the 'Add Find Columns' button to add the fields you want to search on.
NOTE: Adding too many fields, or fields that contain a lot of text (like description fields), can dramatically impact the performance of your database and slow down your searches.
3. Can I customize Microsoft Dynamics CRM while DMM is running?
If you run a migration after making customizations in Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you might receive data upload errors. To prevent this, after any change in CRM metadata; user should restart Data Migration Manager to sync metadata customization.
In a particular case, when migrated data is for a custom entity and later using web App, if the custom entity is deleted, then Migration Purge using DMM tool will fail.
To succeed, create the deleted custom entity and retry deletion using DMM tool.
